Once upon a time I got really sick and had to move back home to be babied for a while... like eight months.
Now I am mostly better, but find myself with no job, and basically no life until I get to move back to school later this month.
So in the meantime
I'll read a book
Or maybe two or three
I'll add a few new paintings
To my gallery
I'll play guitar and knit and cook
And basically
Just wonder, when will my life begin..
and ... watch Disney movies in Spanish to try to pretend those three years taught me something
I could basically be Rapunzel.. except you know the whole having hair and Zachary Levi thing . dang.

Nails! take two!
Last night I redid my nails, as well as my sisters, with the same method i talked about here now that I have the method down, this go round was much much cuter.
things i learned.
-let the nail polish dry completely on the plastic before you try to peel it off
- it works best if you pain the nail the base color you want and let that dry, and then paint a coat of clear to put the decals on.
- dont thy to trim your decals once they are on. nail polish remover the excess. its magic.
- I put a ton of polish on the ziplocks. and didn't use it all. once its dry you can store it for the next manicure.
The possibilities with this are endless with this. I am looking forward to lots of manicures.

Instagram?
why yes. I do live under a rock thanks for asking. it's quite cozy.
I don't really know what instagram is... and twitter kinda blows my mind. #idontunderstand #whattheheck #thesesymbolsmean.
Basically when people try to explain instagram to me all I get out of it is you take lots of pictures and post them on the internet.
So here is your very own version of what I think it is. In other words here are a bunch of my favorite really random pics from this last week. enjoy.
Ps. Our blog is at a kinda awkward stage of life. Sorry, The posts will be random and the layout strange for a bit. No worries it will get over itself soon.

A Reading Picnic
This is what I am planning on doing today since I have the day off of work. I have old favorites I want to revisit and new ones that I can't wait to discover. The difficult decision I have is deciding which book to read, but in the end it won't matter because I'll be heaven no matter what. Here's to an elementary day read-o-thon. Well, I'm off to enjoy my happiness.

Summerfest.
One of the great things I love about summer is the carnival the city I live in puts on every year. Rides, vendors, concerts, fireworks, parades...it's just super fantastic.
This year, we didn't ride any of the rides because A) when I was younger I never realized how ghetto they are... B) it was SUPER windy and cold C) I went and saw Mirror, Mirror instead.
I mean, the rides are still great and I probably would have gone on them if it wasn't cold.
I did, on the other hand, go for a concert. Because my brother was playing in it and he is freaking good. My brother's teacher had all of his students play a song with his band, and my brother played Over My Head by the Fray. I video taped him. Forgive the poor quality, I only had my phone. But he's the drummer.

I guess you can't really see his face--it's behind the cymbals.
Also, I'm not the best at filming...as you can see because the first part is upside down. No comment.
All-in-all, it was a great weekend.
Here's hoping yours was equally fantastic.
Smile on, my friends,

It's Called a Kilt.....Helllooo!
Brownie points if you caught my adapted movie reference.
They say that your brain is so good at adapting that when given a pair of special glasses that turns everything upside down, it takes your brain two days to adjust and it sees everything right side up.

That's basically how I feel after my two days at the Scottish Festival. men in skirts is normal right? haha
On Friday and Saturday, Hiccup invited us to come to a Sottish Festival he was playing his pipes in. so much fun!
This is me laughing at the poor kilted man trying to sit down and be modest. It was really windy. I named him Marilyn. I thought it terribly witty. Him not so much.
My cute sister was my buddy for the day!
So graceful.
The games!
Caber toss! So cool!
I think this is called sheaf toss. They stab those bags with pitchforks and toss them over bars high in the air.
Cabers, aka huge heavy logs.
Waiting for Hiccups Band to perform!
It was Sooo windy; our poor hair was beyond help
Here they come. I have video. I will post it soon
Hiccup
What a stud. He was on the News on Friday promoting the games, His face is blown up on a poster in the deli. He is basically famous.
food is good
Thanks for such a fun day Hiccup! It was fun to be Scottish for a weekend!!

DIY Beach Dress Cover Up
Victoria Secret offers a cute, simple beach dress cover up for around $40. Yikes! and as a tall girl I wanted something that would be a little less revealing on my frame. this is what I came up with.
Here's how I did it. super easy. took me less than 20 minutes.
Step One: Fabric
I used a yard of a knit stretch cotton. The cotton makes it absorbant and comfortable to wear over a wet swim suit.
Step Two: Straps.
I cut off about two inches from the bottom of my fabric to sew the straps. you could cut less and sew the straps and turn them out to make the hidden seam straps, but I took the easy way out and folded the two edges of the stirp to the middle and then in half and sewed down the one side.
Step Three: Arm Holes
Cut the top two corners off of the fabric. I did a rounded shape rather than going straight across. I made mine a little too big, so you may want to hold it up to you and check how much of an arm hole you need.
Step four: put it together.
Sew the straps to the two corners you created by cutting out the arm holes. I sewed the straps on the back and but it on and then pinned them to the front at a length I liked.
Step Five: optional
To finish I cut the botom corners off so I wouldnt have a sharp corner visable in the front. I just rounded the edge.
